Hello there

I'm Crimcat. You might have heard of me. I've been dreaming up stories since I was young; now I finally release them into the world.I pledge that each and every word you read has been written by my hands. Beta readers help me along the way with my pursuit of perfection (hey, it's impossible, but always shoot for the moon), along with feedback from readers like you. And, just as important, every piece of art you ever see--here or in my books--has been commissioned from real artists that make things themselves."AI" has no place in creative spaces. That's my firm belief. And it's important enough to me that I wanted it to be the first thing that any visitor to this page will see. Art is too important to manufacture it without emotion.

Blind Chaos

Thousands of years ago, the five great gods created the world of Pallos. A land of mysticism where mighty beasts and beings struggled to carve out their respective territories, empowered by the System. On this world, a Paladin in service to Xaoc, the god of chaos, struggled and perished. And then woke up as a young girl in a nation known as the Republic of Remus. She has a head full of patchwork and inconsistent knowledge, but she’s determined to use it to get a leg up on her second shot at life.Ranthia is an Adventurer at heart, with a knack for getting herself into trouble. Fortunately, she's never met a problem she couldn't solve with a well-applied knife (if you ignore the myriad problems that couldn't be solved with a knife or that she really shouldn't have tried to solve with a knife). She might not be a [Paladin], but she does her best to embody the ideals of chaos and remains highly devoted to Xaoc. All while the beautiful Dragoneye Moons gaze down upon her.

Blind Chaos is a queer High Fantasy LitRPG. But it isn't one of those dry stories where the characters and the plot are mere vehicles to cause arbitrary numbers to go up—the story belongs to Ranthia. From the moment she opens her eyes in her new body, she seeks her place in the world. The story is about her life on Pallos, those she meets, and the lessons she learns. But some lessons come more readily than others.Ranthia's life isn't always easy or pretty. There's violence, there's dancing, there's love, there's loss, and there's always an even bigger dinosaur that wants to eat her. But no matter how bad things get, she has the strength to pick herself back up and keep moving forward. Her journey means a lot to me, and I hope that it might strike a chord for some of you as well!Blind Chaos is set on the same world as Selkie Myth's Beneath the Dragoneye Moons series and exists courtesy of Selkie Myth's generous fan media license. But don't worry if you haven't read Beneath the Dragoneye Moons before—Blind Chaos is a great way to experience Pallos for the first time!

Here's where to read Blind Chaos:

Blind Chaos 1: Budding Rhythm's cover with typesetting. The art is by Nozomi Matsuoka and depicts Ranthia, wearing lightweight leather armor. She's got a laughter-induced smile on her face and seems to be in the middle of a turn to face someone else.

Book 1: Budding Rhythm is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!

Blind Chaos 2: Dancing with Chaos's cover with typesetting. The art is by Nozomi Matsuoka and depicts Ranthia, dressed in a sparkling blue-and-silver costume. She's in the middle of a dance on a well-designed stage, along with other dancers.

Book 2: Dancing with Chaos is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!

Blind Chaos 3: The Grace of War's cover with typesetting. The art is by Nozomi Matsuoka and depicts Ranthia, with a serious expression on her face, standing on a battlefield. Her armor is badly damaged and patchwork, suggesting hard days.

Blind Chaos 4: War & Worship's cover with typesetting. The art is by Nozomi Matsuoka and depicts Ranthia and Avyna. They're kneeling, face-to-face, aboard what appears to be a vessel painted out of starlight, high in the sky.

Blind Chaos 5: Bestial Arts's cover with typesetting. The art is by Nozomi Matsuoka and depicts Ranthia, holding a rather large bunny. They are up on a snow-covered mountain, overlooking a magical city surrounded by a forest.

Book 5: Bestial Arts is releasing on Royal Road currently, with twenty additional chapters available on Patreon!

The Mage From Under the Mountain

Rugrim Stonesplint was a simple man. Like any dwarf, he was content to be left to his labors. Not that his society would even let him focus on the mining that his heart and soul craved. And then came the accident. And along with it, the primal affliction. Gifted with magic that he never wanted, Rugrim is forced out into the world. But in a world where magic is precious, how can one dwarf find the means to free himself from it? With help, that's how—all anyone really needs is a good team.Too bad he's stuck with these weirdos.

The Mage From Under the Mountain is a High Fantasy LitRPG set on a dying world. The System barely works any more, two-thirds of the landmass has been ceded to monsters, and most of the remaining people in power seem content to fight over the scraps. And in that world, an unlikely and vibrant group of... unusual individuals eagerly (okay, one of them is eager) throws themselves at problems.TMFUtM is a more kinetic and higher-paced series than Blind Chaos is. Shorter chapters, with a greater focus on the obstacle of the moment—obstacles that are usually overcome with violence (planned or not).

The Mage From Under the Mountain is exclusively available on Patreon for the time being—initial chapters will be free to read on there over time!

About the Author

A very life-like portrait of the author, drawn by Pennytail. The author floats on their back, surrounded by bubbles. Their purple mertail (complete with cat tail fin) is leisurely curled, while their tabby paw holds a quill to write in a book.

CrimCat lives on the planet Earth (against their will, I assure you) with one (1) spouse, three (3) cats, and one (1) abomination of a representative for each and every holiday (AKA Santa Raptor). They’ve dreamed of being a writer since they were young, but they never imagined they’d get there like this.Totally not a mystical cat that exists only for typing.

Aside from occasional appearances on Reddit, you can find the author on:

A cute digital drawing by Pennytail of Ranthia, visibly angry, typing on a computer. She's wearing a blindfold and a t-shirt that reads "I CAN SEE JERK"

Discord

Art & Artists

Nozomi Matsuoka is the amazing artist that made each of Blind Chaos' covers!

Sarah "Neila" Elkins is the talented artist (and author!) that made Blind Chaos' paragraph dividers!

Evanyell is the incredible artist that has brought scenes from Blind Chaos to life! My favorite piece from her appears below:

A digital painting by Evanyell of Ranthia and Avyna (a scene from Blind Chaos, book 4). A quiet, intimate moment while Ranthia carefully 'massages' Avyna's horns with oil, while they get lost in one another.

Pennytail is the legendarily cute artist that drew my author portrait and created the art I use for my buttons on Royal Road (as of book 5)!
